My Story
Born and raised in the LA area, Royal's goal is to serve and fulfill the musical needs of visual storytellers by composing original music.
From an early age, Royal received classical piano lessons from his mother. He learned Mozart and practiced his piano exercises but what really intrigued him was coming up with his own musical ideas. As a teen, Royal wrote piano songs and had original ideas that he would record on his Yahama keyboard. Just before high school, Royal’s father let him use his Laptop to his record his piano ideas. Little did he know that he was about to be thrust into the world of EDM. What started as a love for crafting piano songs, turned into a ecstatic passion to make beats and house music using the app Garageband. Throughout high school he wrote countless tracks and even released a 4 track EP mixtape. Soon thereafter he would be thrust into a whole new world of music - the world of film music.
During his senior year of high school, Royal was asked to score a short film (“Rev 13”) and later his first feature (“End of The Trail”) both directed by his high school film teacher Barry Tolli. This would mark the beginning of a passion for writing film music. Equipped with classical piano skills plus the technical know how of creating electronic music, he began scoring projects and has been ever since. Being exposed to both classical and electronic music, Royal’s enjoys writing music that lets these two musical worlds collide.
After graduating high school, he received his bachelors in Commercial Screen Writing at Cal State Northridge. While there, he refined his craft, expanded his portfolio and made meaningful friendships. Since graduating from college, he has scored a wide range of projects from short films, feature films, animation shorts, podcast music.
Royal is passionate about partnering with likeminded creators to create meaningful stories, one frame, one word, one musical note at a time.
